Biography

Beatrice de Montera is a Senior Lecturer at the Catholic University of Lyon. She completed a second thesis (after that of Biology) in Philosophy of Science on the contribution of epigenetics to the identity of the individual. She holds a post-doctorate in Epigenetics and a post-doctorate in Ethics of Biotechnology from Laval University in Canada. This dual career allows her to teach and research in Epigenetics and Ethics of Science and Technology. Since the end of 2013, she has been project leader of the SOCA platform, Ethics and Social Acceptability of metagenomics research on the gut microbiota, within the MetaGenoPolis institute near Paris, where she has developed courses in ethics, interdisciplinary seminars and conducted qualitative surveys on the status of the microbiota and the underlying values ​​of this research. She is one of the five ethical experts of the European EDCTP REECAO project on the strengthening of ethics committees in West Africa. She is a regular Ethics Evaluator with the European Commission. She currently supervises the team Ethics of Sciences, Bioethics and Health of the Laboratory of transversal Ethics of the Catholic University of Lyon.
