Biography

Dr. Langelier is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at University California San Francisco in the Division of Infectious Diseases and affiliated with the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub. His work bridges basic science and clinical medicine through patient oriented research focusing on advanced metagenomic diagnostics, antimicrobial resistance and tracking infectious disease outbreaks and emerging pathogens. This has included developing a novel method for severe respiratory infection diagnosis based on integrating the host’s transcriptional response and composition of the lung microbiome. Additionally, his work has led to the development of a Cas9-based targeted sequencing method for detecting antimicrobial resistance genes and other low abundance targets from clinical samples.
