Strains Matter: assembling and tracking genomes within metagenomes
Mr. Fremin will discuss the the Bhatt lab’s efforts to illuminate the interplay between the microbial environment and host/clinical factors in human diseases. The Bhatt laboratory develops and applies novel molecular and computational tools to directly reconstruct complete microbial strain genomes from complicated microbiomes, track these strains as they cause infections, and understand how the genes within these genomes are functioning.
