Biography

Evgeny Zdobnov is a Full Professor at the Department of Genetic Medicine and Development at the University of Geneva and a Group Leader at Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB). Prof. Zdobnov is known in the field of comparative genomics for leading evolutionary comparative analyses of animal genomes in international consortia,  development of computational tool including BUSCO, OrthoDB, LEMMI, etc, as well as recent focus on metagenome studies (https://ezlab.org/). He graduated and then obtained his PhD in 2001 from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and the Engelgardt Institute of Molecular Biology RAS, Russia. Before coming to Geneva in 2005, he worked at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) in Cambridge, UK, and then at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany.
