Biography

Judith U. Oguzie, DVM, MSc, PhD, is a veterinarian and molecular biologist currently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston—her research centres on molecular surveillance and the genomic characterization of emerging pathogens and respiratory viruses. Dr. Oguzie has applied molecular techniques to identify pathogens responsible for uncharacterized febrile illnesses (UFIs) and has tackled major public health challenges through metagenomic investigations of outbreak etiologies. Dr Oguzie has worked on pathogens such as Lassa, yellow, and Mpox, HIV, dengue fever, hepatitis B, Rabbit Hemorrhagic fever viruses and Mycobacterium tuberculosis with an unwavering commitment to advancing scientific knowledge. Additionally, she has taken a one-health approach to her research.
