Dr. Suguru Nishijima is a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Peer Bork’s group at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo and has been working at EMBL since 2019. His research specializes in metagenomics and the human microbiome. As a computational biologist, Dr. Nishijima focuses on uncovering the connections between the gut microbiome and various diseases using large-scale cohort datasets, developing novel computational methods, and integrating multi-omics datasets to advance our understanding of the ecology and function of the microbiome.
